My thoughts and musings

Why being selfish is a good thing

We live in a go-go-go society where running ourselves ragged is looked upon with a certain level of awe. But pushing yourself beyond your limits can have far reaching health consequences and, over time, your body will start to let you know that it needs a break.

The question is, are you listening?

In the beginning it may start out as fatigue.

And if you don't listen it will get a little louder and then louder still until, eventually, you have no choice but to slow down and listen. This usually happens when we have pushed ourselves so far that our body breaks down - think sickness or dis-ease.

Our society has built such fear around the word "selfish", but at the heart of it, being selfish just means that you take care of yourself and your needs.  And there's nothing wrong with that, is there?

Learning to slow down and take care of yourself is not indulgent or selfish - it is 100% necessary for your health and well being.

Nobody will advise you to become a selfish individual. But I personally believe that being selfish is not that bad the way everyone acknowledges it. Sometimes, being selfish is a good thing. For developing self-compassion, enhancing your self-admiration, boosting your love for yourself, taking good care of yourself, increasing your self-wroth, and becoming an organized individual, you need to be selfish now and then. On the whole, by being selfish, you can make the necessary amendments to live a happy life- http://www.reginafasold.com/blog/change-is-never-easy-but-it-is-worth-it/ .

I am honoured to support my clients as they take the first steps down their road to better health and the extraordinary life they deserve.
